CASA de ESPERANZA de los NINOS

Casa de Esperanza de los Niño strives to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children and their families by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs that transform people and communities.

When Casa de Esperanza first opened, the plan was to provide a safe place for families in crisis to leave their children until the crisis was resolved, at which time the family would take their children home to a safer, more stable environment. Since then Casa de Esperanza has cared for over 4,000 children and their families.

Casa de Esperanza provides safety, hope, and a home to children whose families are affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, poverty, homelessness and mental illness. Children ages birth to six years are admitted. Referrals are received from family shelters, hospitals and Children's Protective Services.

Since admitting their first HIV exposed child in 1986, they have remained committed to including children affected by HIV/AIDS in their mission of providing hope and a home to children in crisis. At Casa de Esperanza these children are cared for like all others.

OLIVE CREST

After nearly 45 years of caring for abused and neglected children, there is one thing that is crystal clear – the key to transforming the life of a child broken from abuse, is the healing power of a strong family.

When hurt and abandoned children are surrounded and supported by a loving family and nurturing relationships, it’s amazing to see the dark cloud of fear, loneliness, distrust, and despair begin to lift, and promise, hope and light begin to take hold.

They begin to thrive, and become the people God intended them to be; full of purpose, unique gifts, talents, and personalities. This is something that Dr. Donald and Mrs. Lois Verleur knew back in 1973 when they took in 4 young girls who needed a home.

In the San Diego area the number of abused or neglected children in the welfare system is staggering and heart-breaking. At-risk situations are on the rise and reports of abuse are increasing. When Olive Crest started in 1973 in Orange County, the simple plan was to help kids find strong families. Today, Olive Crest is working with at-risk children and families across all of Southern California, Nevada and western Washington.

Olive Crest is fearlessly battling the cycle of abuse by connecting loving families with children who need safety, care and support…and they are seeing beautiful transformation stories every day. They stay the course by focusing on One Life at a Time®, and by addressing each child’s unique needs with thoughtful compassion.

CHILD CARE LAW CENTER

The Child Care Law Center envisions a California where child care is a civil right, not a benefit; where equal opportunity begins with equal access to safe and healthy child care; and where parents can support their families without sacrificing their children’s well-being.

Their attorneys break down the legal barriers standing between families in need and good, affordable child care. They educate parents and child care providers, advise advocates and policymakers, provide legal information and referrals, and litigate high-impact cases.

The Child Care Law Center works on federal and state subsidies, regulation and licensing, civil rights and disability, housing rights, and economic development and planning.

They are a Support Center for Qualified Legal Services Programs in the state of California.
